Dr. Xiwen Gong (U-M Chemical Engineering) and Dr. Hampstead (U-M Psychiatry) received a UM-MNI and UM-Biointerfaces 2022 Neuroregeneration and Cognition Seed Fund Award. With this award, the team will develop skin-adhesive wearable electrodes that can be used for neuromonitoring, brain disorder diagnosis, and treatment. The collaboration between Dr. Gong and Dr. Hampstead embodies interdisciplinary expertise across engineering and medicine. Together, they hope to address the prominent challenges in neuromonitoring and neuromodulation.

Gong Group undergraduate student Arianna Wu won the 3rd place for the Undergraduate Research Competition at the Fall 2021 Engineering Research Symposium. This is a highly competitive award with students participating from different departments of the College of Engineering. The the 3rd place award includes a prize amount of $400.

We are excited to have PhD students Hazel Mohamedali and Nishkarsh Agarwal joining Gong research group!
Hazel completed her undergraduate in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin and currently in her first year of PhD at Chemical Engineering at UMich. Nishkarsh obtained his Bachelor and Master degree in Material Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur. He started PhD in MSE at UMich this fall.
